The national average retail price of diesel continues to drop, falling 4.7 cents to $3.786 for the week ended Sept. 26, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. Prices declined for the third straight week.
Average prices were lower in all regions, led again by the Midwest where the average price fell 6.1 cents to $3.738. The average price dropped 5.3 cents to $3.739 in the Lower Atlantic area and 4.6 cents to $3.922 in the Central Atlantic. Overall on the East Coast, the average price fell 4.9 cents to $3.804.
With the latest price dip, the national average price is 83.5 cents higher than a year ago. The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
