TCA Seeks Entries for Driver Contests

The Truckload Carriers Association and Truckers News are gearing up for the 13th annual Company Equipment Driver of the Year Contest. The goal of the contest is to honor drivers who exemplify the best in the industry.

Five company drivers are selected based on their safety records, work history, and past awards and recognition. The first-, second- and third-place winners will be announced at the TCA Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, March 3-6, 2002.

Truckers News‘ sister publication, Overdrive, is sponsoring TCA’s 15th annual Independent Contractor of the Year Contest. Owner-operators will be evaluated based on their ability to run a successful business, operate in a safe manner and enhance the image of trucking. The contest’s top three winners will be announced at the TCA meeting. More than $100,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top five independent contractor winners.

The contests are open to all truckload drivers. TCA membership is not a requirement.

The application process for both contests occurs in two steps. The deadline for the pre-application is Sept. 28. The pre-application form can also be filled out online at www.etrucker.com or www.truckload.org. Finalists will be notified by Oct. 17 and asked to submit a second, more detailed application by Dec. 14. Drivers who have won the grand prize in either contest are not eligible to enter the contest again.
