Industry Responds

The Ontario Trucking Association donated $2,500 to the Canadian Red Cross and $2,500 to the Salvation Army for delivering food and water to truck drivers as they waited in traffic or were forced to park in truck holding areas while they attempted to cross the Canada-U.S. border in recent weeks.

TMI-MultiMedia Recruiting, in conjunction with Company Store supplier Continental Marketing Group, will donate a percentage of e-commerce proceeds to the Red Cross.

TravelCenters of America agreed to match the first $50,000 it collected for the American Red Cross through the end of September.

Bridgestone/Firestone and its parent company, Bridgestone, are donating an initial $1.1 million to the Red Cross, with more to come from a fund-raising drive among Bridgestone companies worldwide.

Tosco Corp. is donating fuel, delivered under police escort, to relief vehicles in New York City.

Yellow Corporation is donating $100,000 to the disaster relief fund of the American Red Cross.

FedEx Corp. will contribute $2 million to relief efforts in New York City and Washington D.C. The contribution will include $500,000 each in cash contributions to the American Red Cross and the United Way’s September 11 Fund, as well as $1 million to in-kind services.
