Plot:”Secrets” – that seems to be the name of the game here, as it appears everyone has one. If you are a mystery buff, then this one is for you. No one appears to be who they are believed to be. Cassandra Madden is the nanny of the daughter of Jefferson Ames. She also happens to be in love with Jefferson Ames – her secret. Jefferson Ames is the son of Thomas Ames, a man who is reportedly recovering from two previous heart attacks and must live with his son due to ill health. Althea Fairmont, an eccentric actress and neighbor of Jefferson Ames, is a catalyst that starts a chain of events that will result in all of the secrets coming to light.
Which character was your favorite? Though Thomas Ames has only a supporting role in this story, he is definitely my favorite. His secret will be a surprise you will enjoy. He has a good sense of humor, though it can be a little warped at times. He also seems to be one of the few characters in the story with good, old-fashioned common sense.
What was the book’s message or theme? I believe the message in this story is that keeping secrets can cause a lot of trouble and heartache to a lot of people. I doubt that very many readers will be surprised at that news.
What did you like or dislike? The plot was good, and the writer gave life to the characters. But for my tastes, there were too many secrets, too many characters to keep up with and too much time spent on the background of Cassandra Madden in the beginning of the story.
Would you recommend this book to friends? I would. It is a nice escape into suspense, romance, action and humor.
Describe the narrator: Natalie Moor was good, but she did not have the range of voices and tonal qualities I have heard in other narrators. However, as should be in a narrator, she is able to draw the listener into the story and keep you interested.
