Sandy: Gas, diesel transporters can sidestep regs

Updated Nov 6, 2012

Distributors and transporters of gasoline, diesel and kerosene coming into New york can enter the state without having to meet the usual registration requirements, announced Gov. Andrew Cuomo Nov. 2. Normally, fuel transporters must be registered with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, but in light of the gas and diesel shortages inflicted by Hurricane Sandy’s impact, Cuomo issued the waiver via an executive order.

The order does not say when the suspension of rules will end.
