According to reports from Washington, Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx — the man tagged to replace Secretary Ray LaHood in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet as head of the Department of Transportation — made it through the first part of his Senate confirmation process fairly non-consequentially.

In a cycle in which several of Obama’s nominees faced tough question and answer sessions from the Senate prior to nomination, Foxx spoke without controversy about continuing work LaHood did on cracking down on distracted driving, according to a report from The Washington Post, who also said Foxx said he’d look for new ways to fund infrastructure and would try to implement new technologies.

According to a report from Politic365.com, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said Foxx’s nomination is “non-controversial” and will more than likely remain that.

Foxx is expected to be confirmed by the full Senate next month.
