Trucking’s Top Rookie named next week, to get $25k in prizes

Ten finalists have been named in the Trucking’s Top Rookie contest, and the winner — who will receive $25,000 in cash and prizes — will be announced Friday, Aug. 23, at The Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.

Prizes include a $10,000 check, a custom plaque, a RoadPro Getting Started Living OnThe-Go package; $1,000 cash and 100,000 MyRewards points from Pilot Flying J, a year’s worth of 5-Hour Energy drinks; a GPS unit and CB radio from Cobra Electronics, an American Trucking Associations “Good Stuff Trucks Bring It” package and a Rand McNally Motor Carrier Road Atlas. 

The other nine finalists will get $1,000 cash. 

Trucking’s Top Rookie is produced by Randall-Reilly (publisher of Overdrive), the Truckload Carriers Association, Commercial Vehicle Training Association, Shell Rotella, Pilot Flying J, the National Association of Publicly Funded Truck Driving Schools, the American Trucking Associations and the Red Eye Radio Network. 

The contest was created to increase pride and professionalism among new drivers, and a panel of judges that includes representatives from motor carriers, training schools, suppliers and trade associations chose from the 46 nominations the 10 finalists. They are:
