Navistar is adding the Cummins ISB 6.7-liter engine as an option for its medium-duty DuraStar model.
The company will still be offering its proprietary DT and MaxxForce 7 medium-duty engines with exhaust gas recirculation technology for the foreseeable future, while the ISB will be the company’s selective catalytic reduction option.
Navistar is in the midst of a transition away from its EGR-only approach to meeting federal emissions standards, and the ISB addition is part of the company’s conversion for its medium-duty line.
The company is taking orders now for the ISB, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in December.
