The Josh Abbott Band will perform at the 36th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree this summer, Iowa 80 announced this week. The Jamboree will be held July 9-11 at the Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott, Iowa.
The Josh Abbott concert will be held Friday, July 10 at 7 p.m. The concert is sponsored by Mobil Delvac.
“Bringing some of country music’s most exciting artists to the annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree is one of the many ways that the team behind Mobil Delvac shows its appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices that professional drivers make on a daily basis,” said Craig Barr, advisor of U.S. Truck Stops for ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants.
Several of the band’s songs have debuted on Billboard’s Country Chart, including their most recent hit, “Hangin’ Around.” The band’s new EP, “Tuesday Night,” was released in February.
In addition to the Josh Abbott Band concert, this year’s Walcott Truckers Jamboree will feature a super truck beauty contest, antique truck display, Iowa pork chop cookout, more than 175 exhibits, Trucker Olympics, carnival games, live music, two fireworks displays, a birthday party at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum for its 1915 Mack AB and more.
Admission and parking are free. Shuttles will be provided from the parking area to the event grounds.
“The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is a celebration for and about the trucking industry,” said Delia Moon Meier, Iowa 80 senior vice president. “We are celebrating truckers and their families, and promoting the importance of trucking in our everyday lives. It is an honor to host this event,” says Meier.
The show attracts more than 40,000 attendees annually.
