Minnesota-based Bay & Bay Transportation announced it introduced a new pay scale for its owner-operators, effective April 1.

New rates at the company are based on length of haul, ranging from 97 cents per mile for loads 301 miles or longer to $1.27 per mile for loads 150 miles or fewer. The company also pays $1.17 per mile for runs between 151 and 250 miles and $1.07 for runs between 251 and 300 miles. Pay for empty miles is 90 cents per mile. The company says owner-operators can expect to average around 2,500 miles per week.

In addition to increased mileage pay, the fleet offers paid fuel surcharges on loaded miles, 100 percent reimbursement on authorized tolls, in-cab scanners, quarterly safety bonuses and discounts on fuel. Accessorial pay includes detention, layover and extra stop pay.
