The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Unified Carrier Registration planning board will meet Thursday, Nov. 30 to discuss carrier registration fees and more, according to an announcement posted by FMCSA.
The meeting is set to be held from noon to 3 p.m. Eastern time Thursday. It is open to the public via conference call. Those interested in listening in and participating can call 1-877-422-1931 with passcode 2855443940.
The board came under fire recently after a court ruled it violated federal open meetings laws by holding a meeting on Sept. 14 without notifying the public. During that meeting, the board voted to reduce carrier registration fees for 2018 and 2019, which the court did not strike down.
Because of the court case, the carrier registration process for the 2018 fiscal year was indefinitely delayed. FMCSA has yet to publish a rule in the Federal Register setting the 2018 registration period, which usually begins on Oct. 1.
