The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, as regular readers know, annually updates the North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria Handbook and Pictorial guide, publicly announcing updates/changes (there were few this past year) and selling print and digital copies (in pdf form) of the guide.

CVSA’s new out-of-service criteria mobile app is available for $49.99 via Apple or Google Play stores — search “CVSA” or “OOSC” there to find it.CVSA’s new out-of-service criteria mobile app is available for $49.99 via Apple or Google Play stores — search “CVSA” or “OOSC” there to find it.

Now, access to the OOS criteria via smartphone or tablet is available through a mobile app, available for both Android and iOS devices, that contains “all of the same information that’s currently in the 233-page print version of the handbook,” CVSA says, in addition to inspection bulletings, pictorial guides and “the learning management system for online training, inspection procedures, operational policies, inspection and educational videos, brochures and webinars.”

The app is not a freebie, though — it’s available for $49.99 USD, and CVSA’s Collin Mooney notes that the purchase is for this year’s criteria only. At once, the alliance is “in the process of adding additional functionality … and considering implementing a subscription model to renew every April 1,” when annual changes to the OOS criteria come into play.
