A large sinkhole that opened up in the inside lane of eastbound I-20 near Van, Texas, at the 545 milemarker has forced the Texas Department of Transportation to close the interstate in that direction until the repairs are completed.

The Van Fire Department in a Facebook post says the department first received reports of the sinkhole Monday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. A local news report from KLTV says Texas DOT officials expect repairs to have the interstate closed for two to three days.

The Texas DOT statement notes that traffic is being rerouted onto southbound FM 314, eastbound FM 1995 and northbound SH 110 back to I-20.
