Truckers planning to be driving north on I-15 through Las Vegas or east on I-10 through Phoenix this weekend should plan to use alternate routes as crews will close a section of each interstate.
The Nevada Department of Transportation will close I-15 North between Sahara Avenue and D Street, an approximately 2.5-mile stretch, between 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, and 6 a.m. Monday, June 17. Crews will also close several entrance and exit ramps throughout the weekend, including:
- Sahara Avenue on-ramp to I-15 North
- Charleston Boulevard on-ramp to I-15 North
- Neon Gateway HOV on-ramp to I-15 North
- MLK Boulevard on-ramp to I-15 North
- MLK Boulevard on-ramp to U.S. 95 North
- U.S. 95 South to I-15 North
- I-15 North to U.S. 95 North and South
- HOV flyover from I-15 North to U.S. 95 North
Nevada DOT says the 215 Beltway and U.S. 95 are good options to avoid the closure over the weekend. To access U.S. 95 North, NDOT suggests using streets west if I-15. To access U.S. 95 South, the agency suggests using streets east of I-15.
The ongoing Project Neon is 96% finished and is expected to be nearly completed by mid-July.
Additionally, in Phoenix, the Arizona Department of Transportation will close I-10 Eastbound between 83rd and 51st avenues for construction of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway.
The closure will occur from 9 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Monday. ADOT suggests drivers consider taking Loop 101 west of I-17 to get around the closure.
