Truckers whose loads will take them through Phoenix this weekend should plan ahead for a closure of the eastbound lanes of I-10.
Arizona Department of Transportation crews will close the eastbound side of the interstate between 67th and 51st avenues from 9 p.m. Friday, July 12, through 10 p.m. Sunday, July 14.
ADOT says eastbound I-10 traffic can exit at 67th Avenue and detour either to the eastbound I-10 access road, McDowell Road or Van Buren Street before re-entering the interstate at 51st Avenue.
The agency says heavy delays are expected on this detour, however, and asks drivers traveling through Phoenix to consider taking State Route 85 south in Buckeye and using eastbound I-8 to return to I-10 in Casa Grande.
