Hogan Transports acquired by vehicle rental giant

Hogan Transports, which offers trucking services, full-service truck leasing and more, has been acquired by vehicle rental giant Enterprise Mobility, parent of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo brands. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hogan operates more than 10,000 pieces of equipment at 50-plus locations in the United States through a broad portfolio of commercial services, including full-service truck leasing, truck rental, dedicated trucking and other custom-designed transportation and logistics solutions.

As reported by Overdrive sister publication CCJ’s Jason Cannon, both companies are based in St. Louis, and Hogan will operate separately "for the foreseeable future," the company said Monday.

Enterprise Mobility has a fleet of more than 2.4 million Class 1-6 vehicles and a broad portfolio itself, including fleet management and light- and medium-duty truck rental.

Cannon reported Monday that Enterprise Mobility President and CEO Chrissy Taylor said adding Hogan's business allows her company to expand services and its fleet to Class 7 and Class 8 heavy-duty trucks along with specialized equipment such as refrigerated trucks and trailers, flatbeds, automotive haulers and livestock trailers.

Hours regs waived in two states for certain heating fuel haulers

The governors of two Midwestern states have issued emergency declarations as a result of demand for heating fuel products that waives certain hours-of-service regulations for truck drivers hauling those commodities.

In Iowa, Gov. Kim Reynolds said “because of the high demand for heating products throughout the Midwest, the people of the State of Iowa are faced with extensive challenges to timely access heating fuel products.” She also cited a disruption in a segment of the pipeline distribution system that is affecting heating fuel distribution terminals within in the state and greater Midwest regions.

Reynolds suspended rules pertaining to hours of service for crews and drivers delivering propane, heating oil, natural gas and other fuels used for residential, agricultural, and commercial heating purposes during the duration of the emergency. The declaration is effective through Jan. 3.

Likewise in Wisconsin, Gov. Tony Evers said “demand for residential heating fuel is substantially heightened due to winter weather conditions throughout the region,” adding that “the Enterprise pipeline distribution system, with residential heating fuel distribution terminals within the state and greater regions of the Midwest, reported a pipeline disruption” in November that has affected terminals in Wisconsin.

Long wait times at those terminals and others in neighboring states, "combined with the need to truck petroleum products over very long distances," Evers added, has made it difficult for "transporters to meet demand while complying with state and federal hours-of-service requirements.”

Evers’ declaration suspends hours of service regulations for “carriers and drivers of commercial motor vehicles, while in the process of obtaining and transporting residential heating fuel to or from a terminal” through Jan. 2.

Former USPS employee pleads guilty to accepting bribes for trucking contracts

A former United States Postal Service employee pled guilty this month to a bribery scheme involving USPS service contracts, according to United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould.

Zechariah Yi, 52, of Aurora, Colorado, was indicted in March 2025 for his role in accepting payments related to USPS service contracts awarded to certain trucking companies. On Dec. 2, Yi pled guilty to one count of Receiving a Bribe by a Public Official.

According to court documents, Yi admitted that, while working as a Senior Network Operations Analyst for USPS, he solicited and received approximately $1.5 million in kickbacks from the owners and associates of three trucking companies in exchange for Yi’s agreeing to help the trucking companies obtain USPS service contracts. The USPS service contracts awarded to the three trucking companies paid the companies a total of approximately $15 million.

Yi faces up to 15 years in federal prison. His sentencing date has been set for March 26, 2026.

Yi is the fourth defendant to plead guilty as part of this bribery scheme. Previously, another USPS employee, Tai Rho, and the owners of two trucking companies, Wan Jin Yoon and Hong Jin Yoon, each pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Commit Honest Services Wire Fraud for their involvement in the bribery scheme. They each face up to five years in federal prison. All three are set for sentencing in early 2026.
