Anyway Logistics, out of Fresno, California, bought the Boondocks Truck Stop for $500,000 at auction last week. The truck stop closed in October after 45 years, according to reports by the Des Moines Register.

Trucking rap sheet: Various hazmat violations lead to nearly $2 million in restitution, penalties for trucking company
A trucking company and its owner were ordered to pay restitution of $644,689.70 and a forfeiture totaling $1,289,370.40 in monetary penalties for various hazmat violations. A man was also sentenced for a CDL testing scheme, while another was ordered to pay restitution for a shipping fraud scheme.

Holiday week major-lane van volume boost well illustrates e-commerce extension of retail freight season
The “Black Friday” after Thanksgiving once marked the end of the retail-freight season, but last week showed how e-commerce is extending the holiday push. Rates on the 100 highest-volume van lanes rose an average of 2.3 percent, or 5 cents per mile, during the week ending Nov. 24, with 78 of those lanes moving higher,

Two more trucker-involved shootings reported
Two truckers got into a dispute over a parking spot in Clayhatchee, Alabama, ending with one driver shooting another twice in the neck after allegedly being tased. A trucker in Texas reportedly fired shots at a passing SUV in what appeared to be a road rage incident.

Approximately 2,894 model year 2017-2019 Cascadia trucks manufactured between May 17, 2016 and Nov. 5, 2018, are affected by the recall. Recall documents say the driver’s front air bag may deploy unexpectedly.

Mobile crane operators get 30-minute break exemption extended
The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association has held the exemption since October 2016 for carriers and drivers operating mobile cranes with a rated lifting capacity of more than 30 tons. The exemption applies to approximately 65,000 mobile crane operators.

Mobile shower, catering group seeks hours relief to better aid firefighters responding to disasters
The National Mobile Shower and Catering Association is requesting the regulations relief for its member companies’ drivers who are responding under a “Resource Order,” an order issued by a federal agency directing firefighters and supporting personnel to respond to forest fires and similar emergencies.

Idaho suspect indicted in truck stop beating of driver
Stormy Ray Adakai was arrested Nov. 8 after confessing to beating Missouri trucker Amos Phillips at the TP Truck Stop. Phillips says he was sleeping in his truck when Adakai broke in Sept. 3 and demanded money. After a scuffle, during which Phillips says he was beaten on the head with rocks, the assailant fled.
