The push to 12 mpg: How Joel Morrow's doing it with this VNL spec
For owner-operators, fuel mileage improvement once depended in large part on speed. In order to maximize fuel economy, "you were driving 55 miles an hour," notes Joel Morrow in this new video about the "Purple Haze 2" VNL860, "agressively downsped" to achieve high torque at lower rpms. Slowing down still works, but powertrain specs contribute mightily.
