Owner-operator David McDaniel of Jefferson City, Tenn., wasn’t so sure about the color of his 2002 379 Peterbilt when he purchased it. “I hated it when I bought it, but when I got to looking around, I noticed it was different,” he says. “I like to be different.” The rig, deemed The Mistress by McDaniel’s wife, is powered by a C15 Caterpillar engine and an 18-speed transmission. McDaniel, a dedicated glass hauler leased to Moore Freight Service who travels to Canada every week, says that “everybody teased me about having a pink truck,” but he’s embraced the shade. He’s beginning to enter his truck in shows, placing third in a Pride and Polish – Working Combo show in Tennessee. “It has to work first, and it’s ‘pretty’ second,” he says.
