Volvo, Mack unveil patriotic Ride for Freedom trucks

Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks each unveiled this week their Ride for Freedom trucks used during the annual “Run for the Wall” and “Rolling Thunder” motorcycle rallies over Memorial Day weekend.

Employees of Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley plant in Dublin, Va., unveiled the 2018 VNL 760 for the “Run for the Wall” rally last weekend. It was accompanied by a custom Volvo VNR 640 to lead a motorcade of more than 150 motorcycles from the plant to Washington, D.C., for the event.

Custom graphics on the VNL 760 honor all branches of the United States military with the slogan, “All gave some, some gave all…some still give.”

This was the 27th year of Volvo’s New River Valley employees and the UAW Local 2069 Veteran Committee participating in the event.

Mack Trucks’ Lehigh Valley Operations plant participated in the Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom event by traveling from Pennsylvania to Hagerstown, Md., for a special ceremony at Mack’s Hagerstown facility. Hagerstown employees then joined their colleagues on their way to Washington, D.C., to join the Ride for Freedom.

Mack customized a 2018 Anthem tractor for the event, featuring graphics to honor each branch of the military with the slogan, “All gave some; some gave all. Remember those who served.”
