Bradner, Ohio-based Davidson Trucking small fleet owner and founder Dan Davidson showed this 2000 Freightliner FLD, one of many in his stable of working classics, during That's a Big 10-4 on D.C. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in October 2020.
In this video, Davidson details extensive refurbishment work put into a bevy of FLDs through recent years. This one's rebirth featured among other items an engine replacement with a 15-liter Caterpillar 6NZ for a power upgrade from the original, smaller power plant.
Davidson and his shop dressed up the rig with bright parts mostly from 4 State Trucks in Joplin, Missouri, after an all-around restoration. The unit ran under the tutelage of an owner-operator leased with Davidson Trucking before Dan bought the truck back and ultimately made it his own.
