Bryant Paver, owner of Kingdom City, Missouri-based Mid-Mo Equipment, buys, sells and builds trucks like the impressive 2016 Peterbilt 389 featured here. It was on display at the 2025 Guilty By Association Truck Show in Joplin, Missouri, this past fall when we caught it.

Bryant PaverBryant PaverMid-Mo is a one-stop-shop for custom truck builds, he noted, with their own mechanic to handle engine work, along with any body work needed.

With the 2016 Pete at GBATS, Paver and team did a complete rebuild on the unit “from scratch,” he said. They started with the “bare frame and took everything off and went to town on it.”

It all took about seven months, starting in February 2025 and getting it done just in time to make it to the show at the end of September. Mid-Mo has since sold the unit.

The 389 was originally Cummins-powered, which they swapped for a 6NZ Cat. The mechanic, Tim, put a Stage 3 head on the engine, put a PDI kit on it, and upgraded the injectors and turbo. Behind the Cat engine is an 18-speed and 3.36 rears.

Once the mechanical work on the engine was done, Mid-Mo then “did the whole kind of works on the motor, took it out, painted the motor and then polished all the intakes,” Paver said.Once the mechanical work on the engine was done, Mid-Mo then “did the whole kind of works on the motor, took it out, painted the motor and then polished all the intakes,” Paver said.

The truck is painted gray with baby blue accents, which Paver said wasn’t a popular choice in the shop until it was finished. He wanted to do the baby blue, but other guys in the shop didn’t think it would turn out.

Bryant Paver: All my guys did an amazing job at our shop. It was stressful, very stressful and you know, a lot of arguments. But we got it done.

Bryant Paver, we're based out of Kingdom City, Missouri. Mid-Mo Equipment is the company name. We custom build trucks. I mean, head to toe, we strip them down, do everything. Got our own mechanics, auto body. But we kind of did this one from scratch, started bare frame and took everything off and went to town on it.

I think we started in February. I think we made pretty good time for making Joplin, you know. I mean, it was to the, to the day, but we got it here.

It's a '16 Peterbilt 389. Had a Cummins engine. We took it out put a Cat 6NZ in it. My mechanic, Tim, awesome mechanic, did a three-stage head on it. Different injectors, PDI'd the motor, different turbo, and we did the whole kind of works on the motor, took it out, painted the motor and then polished all the intakes. Did all that. Got an 18-speed in it. 3.36 gears.

Stacks are American Eagle, I'm pretty sure. The deck plate we did. We did a lot of stuff in-house. We got custom wheels, the T-bars and all that, that was from Talladega. A lot of lights. We put, a lot of lights, they're all dual lights. They all go to blue. It's got white underglow everywhere and then blue everywhere. So it turned out good.

My brother did amazing job on interior from button to button. He did it did an amazing job. He did all the stereo. It's Memphis Audio in there. I don't know how many speakers in there, there's quite a few.

We did one a long time ago. We did a purple and gray one, and it went viral and everybody liked it, and we sold it. And, we didn't go to detail on that one, but on this one, it was a flat top and flat tops always look good. So, I was like, let's do the blue and gray. And nobody really wanted to do the baby blue. I thought it was gonna look good, but I knew it would turn out pretty good. I think it turned out pretty good with what we wanted to do with it. We're pretty pleased with it.

We're going to, I'm going to sell it. I'll put it for sale. We do a lot of resale. And we buy and then that's what we do is custom build trucks.

And we have a website to you. It's mid-moequipment.com. And then (573)-214-9156 is our office number. Just call us and we can hook you up, for sure.
