Show truck season heats up with 75 Chrome Shop show this weekend

For contestants, the show this year is non-judged, but more than $25,000 in prizes will be given out during the show. Participants will also be competing for the 75 Chrome Shop Prime Shine Trophy and People’s Choice Trophy. The show is free for spectators.

Allen Boles had to battle his longtime friend Ricky “Rude” Proffitt for several laps before getting out front and holding on for the win. He also claimed the win in the season opener at Mobile International Speedway in March.

‘BlackGold’ scale memorial Mack, Cecil Spurlock’s son and family’s tribute to the Kentucky coal hauler

The 1/25th scale model of Spurlock’s 1981 Mack DM 800 coal hauler is their way of honoring his legacy. When Spurlock passed in 2012, says his son David, he was buried “with his Mack cap on his head, and a coal miner on his grave stone with a pick and shovel on his shoulder, showing where he came from.”

The rig sports a 625-hp Cat C15 with an Eaton 18-speed and Spicer 3:36 rears. He has had the cab lights and horns shaved down and replaced with nine small LEDs and train horns mounted underneath the truck.

Fitzgerald Semi-Casual Truck Show to feature truck drag races, stunt show, more

The event is scheduled for May 4-5 at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn. The truck show is a participant-judged show designed to be a more casual atmosphere than some other truck shows. The show is only open to the public on Saturday, May 5. Rock band Foghat will perform that night.
