New Bandit big rig racing circuit hits tracks next month, offers $50k per race
A new racing series featuring Class 8 trucks in oval track races starts its first full season next month in North Carolina. The Bandit Big Rig Series, which offers a total purse of $50,000 at each event, will host 13 races this season, culminating in a finale in late October in Cordele, Ga.

Carl Hubbard’s “Ol’ Blackie” is a 1996 Western Star 4964F Heritage that features a 66-inch sleeper and a 260-inch wheelbase. In 2005, Hubbard says the truck was a total loss, but he rebuilt the truck from the ground up over a seven-month period.

Rare 1921 White restored, readied to run after 55 years in the garage
Bob Burg restored the truck in his garage in December and January. While doing so, he found a manufacture number on the truck’s frame, which he used to trace the truck back to an October 1921 manufacture date via White’s online truck registry.
