BYD’s Class 8 Battery-Electric Refuse Truck offers a 10-ton payload and is engineered to provide 76 miles of range with minimal battery degradation. The cab-and-chassis platform includes the batteries, a high-voltage control system, an all-electric propulsion system and an electric power-takeoff for the refuse body’s hydraulic system. The platform is designed to integrate with all major North American refuse body builders and can be configured as a side loader, an automated side loader, a front loader, a rear loader or a rolloff. The truck can charge at 40-, 80-, 100- or 200-kW rates and requires between one and five hours to charge depending on the power interface used.
