Michelin North America announced its X Line Grip D drive tire is getting pre-mold retread options as well as expanded tire sizing for both long-haul and regional applications.
It's now available in the 11R22.5 size.
The X Line Grip D was intro'd in 2025, and expansion of the lineup "reflects our commitment to delivering unmatched performance across every mile of the tire’s life,” said Yahn Heurlin, Michelin's B2B marketing vice president. “Fleets have validated the performance of the Michelin X Line Grip D tire in real-world conditions, and now we are expanding that same trusted performance through an additional size offering and a retread solution engineered to deliver the same performance as the new tire."
The X Line Grip D retread
The pre-mold retread features the same X Line Grip D tread design and compound technology as the original tire, designed for maximum traction, wear performance, and operational efficiency throughout the casing lifecycle. At the X Line Grip D's core is the Duracore casing, engineered for maximum durability and retreadability: up to a million miles of life with as many as four retreads.
This expansion responds to fleet feedback gathered since the 2025 market introduction, the company said.
Key highlights of the X Line Grip D lineup:
- When worn, X Line Grip D provides more than 90% better snow starting traction compared to the Michelin XDN2 tire
- Also when worn, more than 25% better wet starting traction than the XDN2
- 20% higher mileage to removal
- 20% lower rolling resistance for better fuel mileage
