The three finalists in the Trucker Talent Search finale, which will be broadcasted live on Overdrive‘s Facebook Page at 8 p.m. EST, include, from left: Freddy French, Paul Cullers and John Malayter.Overdrive‘s GATS Week will close out tonight, Aug. 28, with performances by the three Trucker Talent Search finalists and the announcement of the contest’s winner, followed by the crowning of seven winners in the virtual Pride & Polish photo contest.
The two contests will be streamed on Overdrive‘s Facebook page tonight starting at 8 p.m. EST (5 p.m. PST). Tonight’s events are part of Overdrive‘s GATS Week, a Monday-Friday series of evening online events that had been scheduled for the Great American Trucking Show, which was canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
The Trucker Talent Search finalists are truckers Freddy French, John Malayter and Paul Cullers. The contest received nearly 50 entries from talented truckers who love to sing. A panel of judges reviewed all the entries, and Overdrive featured 10 semi-finalists before the judges selected the three finalists.
The judges for the finale will be professional musicians Jayne Denham and Watermelon Slim, Tim Walker, a vice president with Red Eye Radio owner Westwood One, and Max Heine, Overdrive editorial director.
Following the sing-off finale, Overdrive‘s GATS Week will close with the announcement of seven winners in the Pride & Polish competition. There are three finalists in each of seven categories: Antique; Interior; Limited Mileage; Working Bobtail, 2013 and older; Working Bobtail, 2014-2021; Working Combo, 2015 and older; and Working Combo, 2016-2021.
The Pride & Polish program will immediately follow the Trucker Talent Search finale at 8:30 p.m. EST on Overdrive‘s Facebook page.
