C o BruceOwner-operator and trucking vet C.O. Bruce says he wanted to “retain the old, classic look of the truck but add in modern function.” His 1969 Peterbilt 359, the “Orange Blossom Special,” as it’s come to be known, has been a work in progress for the 41 years Bruce has owned it, he says. In 2008, though, Bruce wanted to give the truck a real facelift, and he added new frame rails, stretched the cab 20 inches, did some cosmetic work to the hood and added a dash made of engine-turned metal. He picked up the idea for the orange and purple paint job from a 1940-model pickup he saw at a hotrod show. “When you think of it, you kind of think ‘Ew – orange and purple don’t go together,’” he says. “But it sure does.”
