Josh Sauls' 1985 Peterbilt 359 is no stranger to Overdrive's Reader Rigs pages, having been featured twice in 2023. Sauls again submitted his truck to highlight some upgrades to the rig since it last appeared here.
In 2023, he was pulling reefers, but Sauls said he's back to pulling a dump trailer today, mostly farm work. He does all his own mechanical, tire and body work.
Powered by a 425 Cat with a 15-speed double overdrive transmission and 3.36 rears, the truck is putting out at least 525 hp, Sauls said. "It'll flatten a hill loaded or empty. It pulls good either way."
The most recent upgrade is a custom visor he had made for it. He's planning some downtime soon for some "much-needed TLC. I've had the truck for 15-plus years," he said. "My dad left it to me when he passed." Sauls added that he plans to keep the truck running and in his family.
