A bill nearing passage in the Colorado state legislature, SB 178, which has passed the Senate and awaits a House floor vote, would clarify workers compensation rules to allow specific occupational accident insurance coverage as an option for owner-operator independent contractors.

Colorado adds human trafficking prevention training to CDL requirements
New CDL applicants in Colorado will be required to complete a 30-minute training session by Truckers Against Trafficking at no extra cost in order to obtain their license. CDL schools in the state will be required to include the training as part of the overall CDL course.

Colorado DOT urges truckers to use caution on mountain passes
The department reminds truckers that the speed limit for westbound traffic on U.S. 160 coming downhill from the summit is 25 miles per hour for trucks. This stretch of highway has a 7 percent downhill grade and is more than eight miles from the summit to the base of the pass.

I-70 has been reopened in both directions on the Vail Pass after crews were able to conduct avalanche control work throughout the day Tuesday. An avalanche closed a stretch of the interstate for most of the day Tuesday.

I-70 through Glenwood Canyon opens to two-way traffic Thursday afternoon
I-70 through Glenwood Canyon will open to two-way traffic at 4 p.m. local time Thursday. Colorado DOT said a pace car in each direction will lead traffic to maintain a safe speed as vehicles travel through the canyon on the eastbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration.

After the Colorado DOT reported an accident west of the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70, near Milemarker 215, closed all westbound lanes, lanes were reported reopened three-four hours later.
