More than 7,100 Western Star tractors, 500 International trucks recalled
Daimler Trucks North America announced a recall of approximately 7,100 model year 2017-2019 Western Star 4700, 4900, 5700 and 6900 tractors for a possible electrical issue. Navistar is also recalling approximately 500 model year 2018-2019 International LT tractors for the potential of a fuel leak.

Navistar in the black for 2017, first time in 6 years
The gains posted during the fourth quarter this year – Navistar’s second consecutive profitable quarter – represent a swing of $169 million compared to 2016 and was more than enough to push the company to a profit for the 2017 fiscal year. For 2017, the company reported an income of $30 million, versus a net loss of $97 million for fiscal year 2016.

Electric truck, integrated powertrain on deck for Navistar-Volkswagen partnership
Top executives at Navistar and Volkswagen announced Tuesday joint initiatives planned for the coming years, including a proprietary integrated powertrain for the North American market. The companies also said they plan to introduce an electric truck by the end of 2019. Navistar also plans to develop a big-bore 15-liter engine in conjunction Volkswagen for use in International Trucks.

Approximately 2,700 International trucks recalled
Navistar says the cause of the recall is the air dryer mounting bracket could fracture, causing the air dryer to separate from the frame with possible airline separation from the dryer, which could result in air system leaks or loss of air pressure to the brake system.
