If the rule were to be made final, all new trucks would be required to use electronic speed governors. There is also a possibility it will require all trucks with factory-equipped speed limiters to be governed as well.

Trucker who crashed truck while drunk, changing pants shut down by FMCSA
Allen R. Johnson Sr. told Vermont State Police after the Nov. 2 accident that he had set the cruise control on the truck to 63 miles per hour, then stood up to change his pants. A report from the state indicated Johnsonâs blood alcohol content was .209, approximately five times the legal limit for truck drivers.

OOIDA accuses FMCSA of sidestepping rule process with sleep apnea provision, files legal challenge
OOIDA filed its legal challenge Nov. 11, seeking to vacate the rule either in part or in whole. OOIDA says the final rule, which required procedural changes for medical examiners, included an appendix not found in the agencyâs 2014 proposal that could subject some truckers to sleep apnea screening.

FMCSA says the DOT 407 low-pressure bulk liquid cargo tanks and DOT 412 corrosive cargo tanks manufactured by the company have several defects that donât comply with regulations. The tanks were manufactured before May 1, 2013, when the company went out of business.
