Michael Morgan was driving about 45 mph in the right lane when a Lexus SUV came around on his left and got just far enough in front of him for him to see the license plate before the driver lost control on the slick road and spun out.

Sam Dyess was traveling along I-80 in Wyoming during a blizzard when a truck stopped ahead of him and slid backwards into another motorist, causing the vehicle to slide back into Dyess’ truck. The first truck then took off, leaving the accident behind.

Truck driver Donald Wood got out of his truck and crossed the road, where he found a small pickup truck with a camper trailer stuck in a snowdrift. Inside the pickup was an elderly man and his dog.

Flames were coming from underneath the hood of the car, so Gubaci pulled over to the shoulder, grabbed his fire extinguisher and rushed over to put out the fire, which was between the motor and the firewall.

Louisiana-based trucker named Highway Angel for helping ejected crash victims
Christopher Lemaire, of Erath, Louisiana, and a driver for Revere Transportation, is a former highway patrol officer who witnessed a crash on Feb. 11 along I-35 in Kansas. He saw a car skidding out of control, which hit a culvert in the median, sending it airborne.

Trucker recognized after preventing accident when student driver passed out at wheel
The student driver had been driving well, but began complaining about not feeling well. He later passed out at the wheel, and Demetrice Reeves was able to slow the truck down and pull the student out of the driver’s seat to take over and get the truck stopped safely.

Driver named Highway Angel for stopping to help after witnessing crash
Melby Millirans was driving north on I-75 out of Ocala, Florida, when he saw an SUV ahead of him veer toward the guardrail, then swerve sharply to the right and run off the road, down a steep embankment and crash into a row of trees. He stopped, called 911 and grabbed a flashlight to go help.

Jacob Elkins, a driver for CFI, was driving east of Effingham, Illinois, on I-70 on May 23, 2018, when he came across another CFI truck nose-down in a ditch. Elkins pulled over and was the first person on the scene.

Trucker named Highway Angel of the Year after helping at accident scene
Brian Snell was westbound on I-495 in Westward, Massachusetts, when a woman driving the wrong way seemed to have spun out in front of Snell’s truck. He stopped his truck and positioned it to protect her car from traffic. Snell tried to resuscitate the woman, who was unconscious.

Alabama-based trucker recognized for pulling motorist from burning car
He noticed someone was still inside the car, so he approached and found a driver conscious and in pain trapped by the steering wheel that was jammed between the man’s ribs and belt. He then ran back to his truck and grabbed his fire extinguisher to knock the flames back.
