The newly-rebranded truck stop in Steele, formerly the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop, offers 75 truck parking spaces, seven diesel fueling lanes, laundry facilities, three showers and more. It also offers Caribou Coffee, Pizza Hut Express and Subway restaurants.

Participating truckers view any effectiveness of this shutdown as having the potential to demonstrate some unity among drivers, whose voices in regulatory and industry discussions don’t always rise to the top. Texas receives grant to help fund I-10 corridor truck parking information system
The $6.8 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration will be used to implement a truck parking availability detection and information dissemination system at 37 public truck parking locations along I-10 from California to Texas.

Bottom line for lawmakers sent by us to the nation’s capitol: We need an infrastructure bill that will open the flow of traffic, make safer merge lanes and truly spur on badly needed truck parking. Please don’t wait for another bridge to collapse, for another trucker trying to provide for his family to be killed for the few dollars in his pocket.

Eight-state truck parking information initiative nears full launch
Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota and Kansas DOTs each announced earlier this month they have launched their versions of the truck parking space counting system, joining Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin in rolling out the program. See where to access the parking information here.
