Wisconsin-based owner-operator Carl Nyhof is “a household name in our area for his generosity,” owner-operator Seth Taylor says. With many others in the area long mentored by the elder statesman of trucking in Oostburg, Wis., Taylor in part penned this appreciation of Nyhof and his long-running Mack.

Military tribute truck draws on the ‘winged knights’, the Husaria, of Poland’s history as inspiration
Airbrushed murals all around the cab and sleeper exteriors of independent Jerry Stetz’ 2007 Coronado depict the Husaria, or Polish Hussars, knights of the 16th-18th centuries. Stetz draws the line between the ancient defenders/warriors and modern combat soldiers fighting for what is his home today and for the last 20-plus years, the United States.

‘BlackGold’ scale memorial Mack, Cecil Spurlock’s son and family’s tribute to the Kentucky coal hauler
The 1/25th scale model of Spurlock’s 1981 Mack DM 800 coal hauler is their way of honoring his legacy. When Spurlock passed in 2012, says his son David, he was buried “with his Mack cap on his head, and a coal miner on his grave stone with a pick and shovel on his shoulder, showing where he came from.”

Billy A. Henry Sr. of Cross County, Ark., was under an oversize load near El Paso, Texas, on Monday, May 9, when he passed of a heart attack. The trooper on the scene determined his actions neatly parking the rig amounted to absolute heroism. Henry’s trucking brother remembers him here.
