Hard-Working Beauties

PRETTY, PRETTY PEGGY SUE
Jean-Guy and Francine Lachance of Plessisville, Quebec, drive their 1984 Freightliner FLE120, named Peggy Sue, across the Eastern United States. Jean-Guy spent five years modifying his rig to make it a “dream truck.” The truck features a 400-hp Cummins, 13-speed Eaton transmission and 3.70 Eaton differentials. While the truck has more than 800,000 miles, Jean-Guy says Peggy Sue “runs, feels and looks like new.”

THIS BABE SHINES
Ted Dykes of Kentwood, La., pulls chemicals and petroleum products in his 1992 Peterbilt 379. Ole Babe features a 425-hp Caterpillar, 9-speed overdrive transmission and 3.90 rears. The berry-red paint job and chrome features help make Ole Babe the favorite rig of Dykes’ career.
