Hard-Working Beauties

THE INTIMIDATOR

Jay and Nancy Frost’s night owl is a 1999 extended-hood Peterbilt 379 with a 500-hp Detroit Diesel. It’s nicknamed “The Intimidator” – after Dale Earnhart Sr., of course. In addition to displaying Earnhart’s No. 3 logo, the Tasmanian Devil is perched on the hood.

THE JOLLY GREEN GIANT

Jeff and Matt Johnson of Johnson Sand and Gravel in New Berlin, Wis., recently restored this Mack. The DM 688 has an E7350 engine with a 10-speed Eaton transmission, camelback suspension and an air-ride cab. The rig’s facelift included hand-painted pinstripes.
