CRST Malone celebrates anniversary
CRST Malone is celebrating 77 years in the trucking industry. CRST management cites steady freight, a nationwide network of agents, the CRST Malone Gold Pin Club and owner-operator pay increases as reasons for the company’s success.
CRST Malone, headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., partners with more than 1,500 owner-operators.
Hill Brothers Transport increaseS driver pay
Hill Brothers Transportation increased compensation for drivers. Mileage rates for owner-operators increased by 1 cent per mile, and the safety bonus doubled.
The company doubled the safety bonus and fuel bonus programs for company drivers. Also, the company added a mileage bonus to reward drivers who run more than 34,500 miles each quarter.

For August 2004, PASCHALL TRUCK LINES named Juan Castro Jr. Company Driver of the Month and Tadeusz Rymsza Owner-Operator of the Month.
For September, David Molesworth was Company Driver of the Month, and Stephen Grissom was Owner-Operator of the Month.
Decker Truck Line inducted 27 company drivers and owner-operators into its Million Mile Team: Duane Askvig, Robert Brewer, Ron Brown, Kenneth Bryan, David Bush, John Dahl, Larry Emmert, Donovan Engel, Kirby Goos, James Hall, Raymond Harris, Jerry Hunt, Ricky Jindra, Steve Jones, Robert King, Dale Leman, Mike Otto, Mark Palm, Mark Phillips, Jerome Sonsalla, Jerry Staton, Bahne Struecker, Bill Trotter, David Voigt, Rick Wells, Joe Wille and Charles Woods.
For July 2004, DANNY HERMAN TRUCKING named Gary and Randall Yeary Company Drivers of the Month and Raymondo Castillo and Henry Hernandez Owner-Operators of the Month.
For August, Gustavo Machuca and Rual Flores were Company Drivers of the Month, and Pat and Kathleen Ballew were Owner-Operators of the Month.
For September, Merlin and Jeanne Gosch were Company Drivers of the Month, and Ben and Jane Newcom were Owner-Operators of the Month.
For October, David and Alice Breeding were Company Drivers of the Month, and Austin Everett and Julie Murray were Owner-Operators of the Month.
The third driver in CFI history has logged 3 million miles. Bill Compton began driving for CFI in 1980. He receives a jacket, a plaque and a $1,000 savings bond.
Smithway Motor Xpress named Todd Ouverson October 2004 Driver of the Month.
Maverick Transportation’s October 2004 Driver of the Month is John Palmer of Albion, Ill. The November honoree is Gary Lipscomb of Oak Hill, W.Va. The December honoree is Brad Vaughn of Kellyville, Okla.
Also, Maverick named Mike Merrill of Beebe, Ark., its 2004 Referral Winner of the Year. He will receive a $1,700 vacation trip, a week of paid vacation and $500.
