Three Packed Days

There’s no shortage of truck shows, but there are only two really large trucker conventions. The next one – the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Aug. 25-27 – offers the best three days an owner-operator could spend.

The first reason is Overdrive’s Partners in Business seminar, by far the industry’s most in-depth training program for owner-operators. Experts from American Truck Business Services of Denver will explain how to control your costs and maximize your revenue. Plan to be there 1-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. Admission is free.

Another owner-operator highlight is Overdrive’s Pride & Polish competition. Escape the Texas heat as you view these stunning trucks indoors at the Dallas Convention Center.

In addition to free on-site truck parking, GATS offers much more:

  • Country star Terri Clark will give a free concert Friday, Aug. 26. It’s sponsored by Mobil Delvac, which will give away $80 worth of oil every 80 minutes that day as it celebrates its 80th anniversary.
  • Another country star, Sammy Kershaw, will perform Saturday, Aug. 27, in a free concert sponsored by Volvo Trucks.
  • The Second Annual Big Rig Redo, sponsored by Freightliner, will put design students to work creating themed interiors for four Freightliners.
  • The Castrol Tection Extra Big Honkin’ Truck Makeover winner will be announced Saturday, Aug. 27. Someone’s ugly truck will receive a makeover valued at $50,000.

You’ll find more about GATS, including registration and lodging information, in this month’s Overdrive and at this site. I hope to see you there!
