Diesel price sets 2-year high

At Pump OdFor a fourth consecutive week, the average weekly on-highway diesel price increased, hitting the highest level since October 2008, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

The national average price gained 4.6 cents to $3.294, after rising 8.6 cents the previous three weeks. The current price is the highest since $3.482 in Oct. 20, 2008, and 56.2 cents above a year ago.

Prices in all individual regions tracked by DOE rose sharply. California climbed 6.3 cents to $3.47, while the rest of the West Coast gained 3.9 cents to $3.405. The East Coast was 5.3 cents higher to $3.313. The Midwest gained 4.9 cents to $3.278, while the Gulf Coast increased 4.3 cents to $3.226.
