Scientist and astronaut Mae Jemison has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at the 2013 annual conference of WTS International, the association for the professional advancement of women in transportation. Dr. Jemison was the first black women to go into space and NASA’s first Science Mission Specialist. She flew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor and STS-47 Spacelab Japan mission in September 1992. She will join Gloria Steinem, the leader of the women’s liberation movement in the late 1960s-1970s. The conference is being held in Philadelphia, Pa., from May 15-17.
