National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is being held through Saturday, Sept. 19.National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is being held through Saturday, Sept. 19.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week kicked off Sunday, Sept. 13, and throughout the week this week, companies will be honoring truck drivers for their hard work with recognition, deals and more.

NTDAW is a week dedicated to celebrating truck drivers in the U.S. spearheaded by the American Trucking Associations, which this year is being held Sunday, Sept. 13, through Saturday, Sept. 19. ATA says the week is coordinated each year to show the country’s 3.5 million truck drivers that carriers, shippers and the rest of the industry appreciate the job they do.

Some companies announced their events earlier this month, including RoadPro, which is holding a virtual concert Wednesday, and truck stop giants Love’s, TA-Petro and Pilot.

Some other promotions and efforts taking place during the week include:

OverdriveOverdrive is thanking truck drivers this week with a video that recognizes their hard work moving essential goods and supplies this year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Truckers News i luv my trucker! logoiLuvMyTrucker: Overdrive sister site Truckers News opened nominations for its iLuvMyTrucker contest, which gives the opportunity to recognize truck drivers. The best of the submissions will be published on the Truckers News site throughout the week. Truckers in the five best entries will receive a $25 Subway gift card for the recognition.

American Trucking Associations: ATA and Peterson Manufacturing will award $1,000 each to 10 professional truck drivers who have undergone hardship during the coronavirus pandemic during NTDAW.

This initiative comes as a part of Peterson Manufacturing’s recently unveiled campaign for NTDAW, Shining the Light on America’s Truck Drivers, which highlights and honors the crucial role truck drivers have played during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To nominate a driver who experienced financial or other hardships during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, or to self-nominate, click here to share your own story or the story of a deserving candidate.

Drivers will be selected by a panel of independent judges who will review the submitted nominations. By Sept. 20, the Spotlight Award will be given to the deserving nominees who will be contacted individually.

Truckload Carriers Association: TCA and its sponsor, Tenstreet, will be hosting a special hour-long segment on the Dave Nemo Show (SiriusXM Channel 146) beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern time Tuesday.

The winner will be announced Friday, Sept. 18, during a Zoom conference. Throughout the year, drivers have multiple opportunities to earn additional entries to increase their chances at winning the truck, including monthly contests held via DeliverToWin.com.

Healthy Trucking Association of America: HTTA and Amsety, maker of nutrition bars, are working together to provide long-haul truck drivers with liver-healthy nutrition and raise liver health awareness in the trucking industry.

During NTDAW, HTTA and Amsety will provide 60 liver health diet kits for drivers and carriers. Each kit includes free Amsety Liver Health Bars as well as educational material on liver health. Designed to meet the dietary requirements of liver health, Amsety Bars can help truckers replace an unhealthy snack with a liver-supporting alternative — making it easy to eat healthy during and after long hauls, according to a statement from HTAA and Amesty.

Amsety and HTAA are also collaborating to educate the trucking community on the importance of a healthy liver. HTAA health coaches will use Amsety’s Truckers Liver Health Score as a tool to assess drivers’ lifestyle habits and the effects on their liver health.

More events and truck driver recognition will be added to this post as they are announced.
