Wisconsin-based owner-operator Bill Rethwisch won Best of Show at the 2014 Shell Rotella SuperRigs show with his green and white 2013 Peterbilt 389 and matching tanker, earning him $10,000 from Shell Rotella, $5,000 from MAC Trailer and 50,000 Shell Rotella MyMilesMatter points.
This marks Rethwisch’s second SuperRigs Best of Show in as many years, following his win last year with his orange and white 2012 Peterbilt 389 and matching Polar tanker.
Shell’s 32nd SuperRigs competition was held at the zMax Dragway in Concord, N.C., May 15-17.
Austin Ashley from Raleigh, Miss., won Best of Show first runner up and $4,000 with his 2007 Peterbilt 379 and $3,000 from MAC Trailer. Paul Rissler of California, Mo., was awarded Best of Show second runner up and $2,000 from Shell Rotella and $2,000 from MAC Trailer for his 1996 Peterbilt 379.
Shell’s annual contest is a truck beauty contest for actively working trucks. Trucks are judged by members of trucking media and are rated on exterior appearance, design, detail and finish, originality and workmanship.
Shell also chose 12 trucks for its annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar, and that list will be released soon.
Rethwisch’s truck also recently won Best of Show, Working Combo at the 75 Chrome Shop Overdrive‘s Pride & Polish show in Wildwood, Fla. His 2012 orange and white Pete also won the Pride & Polish National Championship in the same category.
