Two-time Bandit Big Rig Series champion Ricky “Rude” Proffitt took another step last weekend toward a third title with a win at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin.

Proffitt started the race in second and led all 30 laps, lapping half of the field in a caution-free race Friday, Aug. 2. He said the win was a little bit of redemption at the track where, two years ago, he broke his shoulder in a crash with Mike Morgan.

Finishing behind Proffitt in the race were Allen Boles, Mark Noble, Marshall Davis and Mike Morgan.

The win is Proffitt’s second of the season, the first driver to win two races this year. Up until this race, there had been six different winners in six races.

After the win, Proffitt’s lead in the overall points standings still remains slim over Boles with four races remaining on the schedule.

The Bandit Series will be back in action Saturday, Aug. 17, at Kalamazoo Speedway in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
