After three rounds of voting over the last month and a half, Overdrive’s Custom Rigs Showdown has reached the championship round featuring two classic Peterbilts.

In the semi-final round, No. 6 overall seed Shawn Wright’s custom 1968 Peterbilt 358A came out ahead of No. 7 seed Bill Warner’s 1988 Peterbilt 362 cabover on one side of the bracket. The other side of the bracket saw No. 8 seed Todd Scruggs’ “Dollar Bill” 1982 Peterbilt 359 defeat No. 5 seed Troy Bolin with his V8 Cat-powered 1979 Peterbilt 359.

With round 3 wins, Wright and Scruggs face off in the final round, now open to voting, to determine Overdrive readers’ favorite Custom Rigs video of 2025.

Wright’s 1968 Peterbilt was built by the retired owner-operator with parts he either made, borrowed or traded for rather than bought. Even the truck itself he came to own by trading a three-horse stock trailer. The 1982 Peterbilt 359 owned by Scruggs sat for about 11 years after he bought it in 2012. It wasn’t in running condition when he took ownership, but he’d always wanted a 359 since growing up riding in his dad’s. He started the rebuild in 2023, swapping out the non-working 3408 Cat for a Cat C18 marine engine. Throughout the frame-up rebuild, Scruggs tried to keep the truck as original as possible.
