Peterbilt Motors Company offers aerodynamic options designed to improve the fuel economy and lower greenhouse gas emissions on the Model 348 vocational tractor and Model 337 including roof fairings and aerodynamic mirrors designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics testing and development. The company says test results show a reduction of 12 percent fuel use over a non-equipped Model 348. Aerodynamic options include convex aerodynamic mirrors in chrome-plated housing and color-matched roof fairings. Both tractors are also available in a hybrid electric configuration with a choice of the PACCAR PX-6 or PX-8 engine.
