Required 34-hour restart study finished, advances to next step, says FMCSA boss
A Congressionally required study of truck operators and FMCSA’s 2013-instituted 34-hour restart regulations has been completed and is now under review by the Department of Transportation’s Office of the Secretary, said Scott Darling, nominated administrator of FMCSA.

The key goal of the research is to determine the safety viability of allowing truckers to split their off-duty time into segments rather than the current requirement that it be 10 consecutive hours or the limited 8/2 split.
