Lawmakers in West Virginia this month passed a resolution that gives the state’s transportation secretary the ability to raise speed limits on interstates within the state to 75 miles per hour.

The resolution calls for the state DOT secretary “to authorize raising highway speed limits, where appropriate, to 75 miles per hour on interstate highways in West Virginia.”

Attempts by Overdrive to reach the West Virginia DOT to find out which interstates may see these speed increases have not been returned.  Interstates that run through West Virginia include I-64, I-68, I-70, I-77, I-79, I-81 and I-470.
