J.J. Keller will soon offer in-cab video driver monitoring alongside a dash cam to expand its offerings for drivers and fleets.

The new J.J. Keller Encompass Video Event Management system and Dash Cam Pro will become available in early April, the company says. The dash cam will read traffic signs and record driving footage, which will be available through a back-office dashboard that includes detailed driver and event reporting, data trends and mapping to pinpoint where specific events took place.

The Encompass system, which views the driver, can be used by fleets to identify “problematic driver behavior,” the company says, and provide coaching and training based on the footage.

The National Transportation Safety Board has touted driver- and road-facing dash cameras as a way to improve highway safety, as well as help a driver involved in an accident prove he or she was not at fault.
