Mother Nature has not been kind to the Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series racers so far in 2018, with three of the first four races scheduled for the season having been postponed due to weather conditions.

The trend continued this past weekend at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as heavy thunderstorms and tornado warnings ended the night early for the Bandits.

Series General Manager Jason Johnson says he is working with the track to see when the Bandits can return to the track and finish what they started Saturday evening, but as of Tuesday afternoon, no announcement had been made. Johnson says anyone who had tickets for Saturday’s race will have their tickets honored at the rescheduled event.

The racers were able to complete the heat races, shootout event and almost finished the first challenge race before weather forced everyone off the track and out of the stands. Johnson says racers will likely keep their points from the racing that was finished Saturday evening. When the race is rescheduled, all of the events will be held again.

The next regularly scheduled race will be held July 7 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa.
